The Lord Jesus Christ said, “Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give ye rest. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:30.

Ignoring the Call

Many people shy away from religion and the call to come unto Christ. They struggle daily with the decomposition of the world and our moral society, and watch in desperation as their children lose their way and give into the vices of substance abuse and unsafe sex.

Work is increasingly hard to come by, and many families find themselves in government lines waiting for handouts to cover the very basic of needs.

And kindness seems to be at an all-time low. People are “out for themselves” and won’t hesitate to stomp all over each other in their bid to survive. Where common courtesy used to be a “rule of thumb”, it’s speedily becoming a thing of the past.

All this–and so much more–is eating at the heart of mankind. And mankind’s heart in turn, is becoming hardened.

Each of You Can Make a Difference

Every one of God’s children has God-given talents and abilities which can make a difference in the world today. Some of you have talents that are obvious–a penchant to lead or inspire others through the gift of words, a beautiful voice, a flair with musical instruments, an ability to fix anything broken.

Others have more subtle talents–a compassionate heart. A listening ear. Being able to organize chaos. Being kind in the face of adversity.

Using these talents and abilities to befriend and help others is our greatest calling–and joy on this earth. And it has a name. Service.
In John Chapter 13, verses 34-35 the Lord said, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”
What better way to show love than to give? To help an elderly neighbor mow her lawn. To drive a co-worker who waits an hour for the bus in the cold every morning. Organizing a fund raiser to help the single mother who struggles with an autistic daughter and her medical needs. Or simply smiling and not scowling at the people around you each day.

How can Service Eliminate Fear and Increase Faith?

Fear is an isolated feeling. It comes from an increase in worrying about self. When you are focused on you–and what’s wrong in your world–you are not using the gifts God gave you, and allowing the feelings of joy and accomplishment to take over your heart.

But faith in God increases faith in yourself–and faith in mankind.

This faith like a little seed will grow into a force that cannot be stopped by bombs and moral and As an ever-widening circle, your faith will embrace and affect others, encircling them about in the arms of love.

So why did the Lord admonish us to “love one another as I have loved you?”

Because you so desperately need love in the world we live in today–and so do I.

Love increases faith, and faith can move mountains.

Let’s move mountains together.
